PCC will award $1,000 to two (2) graduating Worthington High School seniors who exemplify one or more of the PCC Character Qualities of the Month. Click the 'Nominate' button below to nominate a graduating high school senior who attends Thomas Worthington, Worthington Kilbourne, The Worthington Academy or Linworth Alternative.

2023/24 Character Award Winners:
Jimmy Alvarado Dominguez and Henry Nagel

Jimmy Alvarado Dominguez
Worthington Kilbourne High School
Jimmy is recognized for his exceptional perseverance and leadership. Despite personal challenges, Jimmy has excelled academically, completing 13 AP and college-level courses while maintaining a strong commitment to his school community.
He served as captain of the Science Olympiad team for three years, growing the club from 11 to 32 members and leading two full teams in competition. With over 255 hours of community service, Jimmy supported the counseling center, built clothing racks for the school’s care closet, and assisted at blood drives. He is also a dedicated tutor, helping peers in advanced math, science, and writing.
Jimmy’s story of resilience demonstrates his strength of character. Looking ahead, he plans to study Chemical Engineering with the goal of earning a PhD and contributing to research and teaching in academia.

Henry Nagel
Thomas Worthington High School
Henry , a graduating senior from Linworth Alternative and Worthington Kilbourne High School, is honored for his dedication, determination, and positive influence on his peers.
A four-year member of the cross-country team, Henry showed up not for records but for growth, teamwork, and perseverance. His encouragement of younger runners earned him the role of team captain, and his consistent grit was recognized with the Ken McBreyer Award for determination and team support. Beyond athletics, Henry demonstrated leadership by organizing community-building events such as “Game Nights,” ensuring underclassmen had opportunities to connect and grow together.
Henry pursued both French and Spanish through AP-level study, showing his commitment to cultural learning, while preparing for a future in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on aerospace. Henry aspires to combine engineering with his love of languages and culture, envisioning a career in aerospace that is both global and innovative.


2022/23 Character Award Winners: Lincoln Glaros and Willow Blair
Lincoln Glaros

Lincoln has many high school accomplishments showing his great aptitude for character traits like responsibility, self discipline and commitment. His essay focused on how character is something that is practiced and supported in others. He spoke to his in school support of many other students with different races, nationalities, and gender identities, as well, his support in his family with his sister with disability. We are proud to have awarded Lincoln with the Ella Moore Character Award for 2023. Lincoln is now at Columbia University studying Biomedical Technology.

Willow Blair
​
Willow’s application shows a great deal of extra-curricular activities to show her ability for great commitments. She was in the Marching Band and Wind Ensemble, top-curricular band. Her essay focused on her aptitude for perseverance. She told a greatly personal story of her survival and her perseverance through extremely challenging situations. She used her experiences as an opportunity to learn and grow rather than qualifying them as good or bad. We are proud to have awarded her the Ella Moore Character Award for 2023. Willow is now at Ball State University studying Social Work.
